Henly Tyning Equestrian is run and managed by Phil Cuthbert. He has over 20 years experience working with competition horses in a variety of disciplines up to 4* level and he has worked with on Racing, Hunting and Stud Yards.
Phil spent 5 years working for Northumbria Police Mounted Section and 7 years as Head Groom for the Stud Section for both Portman and Tyndale Hunts. He also managed a Thoroughbred Stud where he attended sales and regularly watched the young horses in training on the gallops.
Phil has an excellent understanding of the work, care and maintenance in all these disciplines require and how their needs differ. He is able to offer services to bring horses back into work whether that is a Hunter into work after Summer Turnout, an Eventer that needs to be fit for the season or following a veterinary or physiotherapy plan following injury. His experience in his previous roles has given him valuable first hand experience of many common injuries and correct rehabilitation. He has also dealt with youngstock and difficult horses and has a experience of backing and riding away young horses.
Jo, Phil's wife, supports him in the running of this family business. She is the organization behind the business; ensuring that accounts are up to date and records maintained to reassure liveries that they are billed correctly and in a timely fashion with no surprises!
The Groom positions are being fulfilled by trusted Freelance Grooms that Phil has worked with for many years whilst he recruits his new team.
Under Phil's supervision, Henley Tyning Equestrian are committed to providing Apprentices with the training and skills necessary to learn all aspects of horse management.
